Two feet of snow, again…..

Monday, March 8th, 2010

 2feetofsnow

I can’t believe it’s snowing again, another year of my old leaky boots doing their duty. So for years, I’ve been putting plastic bags over my socks, sliding them into my boots in an effort to keep the moisture at bay.   Who knew I was recycling, and quite by accident, giving those old bags a second use. Just think, I’m saving the world, one snowstorm at a time. Hey, it works, and one size fits all.  You can use any bag, plastic grocery bag,  a vegetable bag, even a bread bag.  While it’s messy, why not create a space for those wet boots once inside.  Make a special place for those wet items, and line it with a garbage bag.

Hang in there, Spring starts March 20, 2010.

Not to mention time and aggravation.  And while your at it, why not make it a healthy lunch and maybe you could save a few pounds.  So, you’re saving money, saving pounds, let’s save the earth too.    If you’re a business, this is a great custom gift for clients and employees, you’re name will be showing up everywhere.  Having a family reunion, need a new fundraiser, own a deli, you may want to consider a reusable lunch bag with your logo on it.

The Holidays and the Environment

Monday, December 28th, 2009

holiday3The holidays are not the best of times for our environment. Think of all the packaging and waste.  This year separate your wrapping paper and cartons from your presents and make sure it’s recycled.  Recycle your Christmas cards into gift tags for next year. Make sure you recycle that Christmas tree also.  Better yet, now’s the time to think of a tree alternative for next year. Go artificial, now is the time to buy… retailers offering after Christmas discounts of 50% to 75%.  Or start considering where you’d like to plant next years live tree with a root ball.

I’m sure with all you’ve received, it’s time to clean out the closets.  Don’t forget to donate your

clothes and general household items to the Salvation Army. Remember, what’s old to your children is new to a less privileged child. There are lots of homes old toys can go to, from local hospitals to charity shops and hospices.  And who didn’t get a new phone this year, with technology changing so quickly we all want the newest and coolest version out there.  Cell phones for soldiers has the answer, send your old one to our soldiers.
