Another Practical Use for Tape….

I went to to the store today and when I got back the change one of the dollar bills was taped back together. I never really thought about what happens to ripped money until today. I guess it was that shiney 2″ packaging tape, that held the bill together, that really caught my eye. I did a little research and found this out:
2) ANY bank will exchange a mutilated bill AS LONG at it’s clearly more than one HALF of the bill.
Per US Dept of Treasury:
“Any badly soiled, dirty, defaced, disintegrated, limp, torn, worn, out currency note that is CLEARLY MORE than one-half of the original note, and does not require special examination to determine its value. These notes should be exchanged through your local bank and processed by the Federal Reserve Bank.”
